A wedding and fashion photographer based out of Portland, OR. I shoot with a mix of film and digital photography and a whole lot of funky creativity.
My first elopement at Glen Oaks in Big Sur, California did not disappoint. With its winding road, secluded cliffs, and deep teal waters as far as the eye could see, it was sure to make for an incredible backdrop for an elopement.
Erica reached out to me and made it very clear that eloping was exactly what her and Zach wanted to do. However, they were unsure of exactly where to elope. She mentioned how Italy would be an absolute dream, and I quickly concurred. We tossed around some ideas, and she came to the conclusion that they should stay in the US, especially since they didn’t have much time to plan.
From there, I did a bit more research. I asked them what certain landscapes caught their eye in Italy, and without hesitation, they said the Amalfi Coast. They particularly loved the combination of bounding green cliffs met with the crashing waves of the ocean. Big Sur immediately came to mind. It matched the Italian coast almost perfectly. A bit more secluded but just as beautiful an equally as perfect for an intimate elopement.
After the quick and easy decision on elopement location, Erica and Zach found the perfect place to stay. In case you didn’t know, Big Sur isn’t heavily populated with hotels and even restaurants. There’s a long stretch of road accompanied by bridges and endless green hills. You’ll drive for a while but somehow it won’t seem long enough. You’re entirely too captivated by the grandeur of nature that surrounds you to worry about the loss of signal on your cell phone. Eventually you’ll come upon a place called Glen Oaks. I don’t think there could be a more perfect place to stay in Big Sur. The rooms are so beautifully unique, as well as the cabins.
They ended up staying in the Bridge house at Glen Oaks. This place couldn’t have been more picturesque with its high ceiling, massive windows, beautiful red woods to exchange your vows under, and a quaint set up in the back for a sweet little reception.
We ended the day with portraits on the beach accompanied by the most beautiful sun set.
